one further point on configurational improvements.
By default you get US style dial-tone, ring-tone and engaged-tones if you would like the tones of other countries then you can change this using a telnet.
after logging in to your router (normally 192.168.1.1) with telnet, hyperterminal or suchlike
use the following command
_ voip dsp countrytone 1
You will now have familiar UK tones.
