Grandstream Budgetone 101
James Body
Rating:

Cheap and cheerful - yet it does exactly what it says on the box!
PLUS POINTS:
- Full range of voice codecs supported, including G.723 and G.729(A) and excellent voice quality
- Speaker phone works well
- Clear LCD display
- BIG buttons work well with BIG fingers.
- Simple yet effective web based interface for configuration
- STUN support
- PRICE! This IS the cheapest SIP phone on the block by a fair margin
MINUS POINTS:
- Build quality - a bit plasticcy, lacks the quality feel of top end phones such as the CISCO 7960
- Styling - my wife reckons that they were designed for people who are visually impaired - lights up like a Christmas tree with incoming call!
- Wall mount screw holes are included, but handset retainer has been omitted, so it just falls off!
- Keypad scan rate is slow - dialling to quickly drops digits....
- Nasty little external power supply with two prong connector
On balance - an awful lot of phone for the money! As a low risk 'starter' phone - highly recommended!
