Grandstream Handytone ATA-286

I had an Grandstream phone and expected the switch to the ATA486 to be simple. It wasn't and required several hours perusing various online manuals to finally get the adapter connected. Like one other reviewer I can't the unit to actually ring the phone. The lamp on the top of the box rings when the phone is supposed to ring, I purchased a UK adapter with ring capacitor (and have tried a spare one I had as well) but the phone doesn't ring for either IP or PSTN calls.
Other than these frustrations, which I'm confident will be resolved, the sound quality appears excellent.
It is a poor do to have to spend so much time trying to configure the unit though.
