When upgrading the Handytone 486, you may experience problems accessing the device via the web browser. The instructions below detail how to avoid this inconvenience. |
| |
1. The Handytone 486 has two ports, WAN and LAN. By default, you connect the Handytone to the network using the WAN port. Your router will then assign a private IP Address to the WAN port. Your LAN port, however will keep a specific IP Address defined by the manufacturer. Before upgrading the Handytone, adjust the LAN IP Settings (update LAN Subnet Mask and LAN DHCP Base IP) as shown below as an example. |

| 2. Upgrade the Handytone as instructed in the Grandstream firmware page. |
| |
| |
3. To re-access the Handytone, take the network cable out of the WAN port and plug it back into the LAN port. |
| |
| |
| 4. Access your Handytone by entering the IP Address you defined in Step 1 for the LAN DHCP Base IP setting. |
| |
| |
| 5. Once you access the Handytone, enable WAN access as shown below. |
| |
 |
| |
| 6. You can now access the Handytone via the WAN port by re-inserting the network cable into the WAN port and access using the WAN IP Address. Follow the setup instructions to configure the Handytone for use with the VoIPtalk service. |

| |
| 7. If you still encounter problems, you may have to access the Handytone using a crossover cable via your PC to enable WAN IP Access. |
