Grandstream GXW-4024 Setup

ATTENTION: Download the latest Grandstream GXW firmware here.

The instructions below detail how to configure the Grandstream GXW-4024 for use with the VoIPtalk service.

WARNING: When booting the gateway for the first time, please allow for 3-5 minutes booting time as the phone might be automatically downloading and installing a new version of the firmware.


  1. Plug an Analog Phone into the FXS Port 1 and obtain the phone's IP address as follows: Press *** on the phone, and wait the dail tone, press 002 and the current IP address will be announced.
  2. Type the web address into a web browser on a local PC. DO NOT include any leading zeros, so 192.168.001.010 should actually be typed: http://192.168.1.10 into your web browser. You should see the following login screen:

  3. Type in the default password admin and press Login. The configuration page should appear.
  4. Select statically configured as: from the items below:

  5. Set Admin Password to a personal value. This value will change the default admin that was used to access the phone menu in step 2 above. This is not a mandatory step but we do recommend that you change the password.
  6. On Profile 1 set SIP Server equal to voiptalk.org and Outbound proxy equal to nat.voiptalk.org:5065 as shown below.

  7. Configure your SIP Registration settings as shown below:

  8. Set DTMF info to be transported via SIP Info as shown below:

  9. On FXS port set your VoIPtalk ID.
    SIP User ID: your voiptalk id  	
    Authenticate ID: your voiptalk id  	
    Password: voiptalk password
    Name: voiptalk id
    Profile ID: profile 1  
    Hunting Group: none

  10. Click UPDATE at the bottom of the configuration page then click to view your changes and then click the REBOOT on the phone menu screen. Make sure you click UPDATE before clicking REBOOT to make sure your changes are implemented correctly.
  11. Upon rebooting, your phone should have connected to the VoIPtalk service. To test this dial 902. You should hear a confirmation message played back to you.



The instructions detailed above applied to setting up the Primary Account section of the GXW-4024. You can repeat the instructions for setting up the other lines available in the GWP-4024.
