VoIPtalk Carrier Preselect Service
VoIPtalk now gives you the chance to make cost-saving phone calls via your BT home phone. VoIPtalk's CPS service allows you to use your existing telephone equipment, BT telephone line and number with VoIPtalk's low cost calls – no VoIP equipment or broadband is needed!
What is Carrier Preselect?
Our 'Carrier Preselect' (CPS) service routes your landline calls via the VoIPtalk network rather than BT, which means cost savings with our cheaper call rates. CPS is ideal for companies with existing BT lines, who want to take advantage of cheaper call charges. This could be your first footstep into using VoIP for your business, giving you peace of mind that you can use both VoIP services and your existing BT service.
Example of how people use CPS
An easy example of CPS is when people select different suppliers for both their gas and electricity due to the cost savings they can gain from the different suppliers for each of the services. This is exactly what you can do with your telephone bill, by simply transferring your telephone billing from BT to VoIPtalk.
Use your BT Phone Number for Incoming Calls
There is no need for the transfer of your incoming number or existing services. The only thing that changes is that your outgoing calls will go through VoIPtalk, at our low cost call rates. You keep your existing telephone number and use your phone in exactly the same way as usual.
You can also still make calls using BT anytime you want to, just dial the prefix 1280. There are no long term contracts so you can always choose who to make outgoing calls with.
Pricing
There is a one-off charge of £10 to activate this service, with £10 complimentary call credit. You do not have to notify BT as we take care of that on your behalf. You can still make calls via BT should you wish by dialing the prefix number 1280. You still have to pay BT for your line rental, as they provide you with your telephone line and BT phone number and VoIPtalk will provide you with your cheaper outbound calls.
Inbound calls are not affected and will still be managed via BT. Please note VoIPtalk features such as call recording are not available via your BT phone.
Notes about the VoIP home phone service
• Line rental must be with BT.
• Calls to 999 will be automatically routed via BT.
• You can still make calls via BT should you wish by dialing the prefix number 1280.
• If you have other services such as broadband and a fax machine these will not be affected.
• If you wanted to save even more money and get a better service, VoIPtalk also provides Broadband and Fax to Email services. There is no requirement for installation or programming of hardware.
• There is a 0.5p peak, 0.3p off-peak and 0.2p weekend per-minute surcharge on all calls.
